Meet Angela Walker

Angela Ressa

Meet Angela Walker:

Angela Walker was born and raised in Liverpool, England and began her expat journey at the age of 17. She has lived in a total of 11 different countries in just under 30 years:
UK | Germany | USA | S. Korea | Venezuela | Taiwan | India | Malaysia | Vietnam | Malaysia | Tahiti | Malaysia | Jordan | UK
On her travels Angela came across her passion and purpose in education, particularly in understanding how we learn. She has an insatiable appetite for helping people of all ages unlock their unique potential. This passion led her to attain a number of diplomas and certificates in various nuero-developmental methods and healing techniques and ultimately in creating her passion project; Katie’s Readers – a community of volunteers whose aim is to “Scatter the love of learning around the world.”  She is also a certified life coach and works primarily with {expatriate} mothers, youth and clients who work directly with children. Angela recently returned to Liverpool, coming full circle to finally lay down roots while continuing to follow her own passions and inspiring others to do the same!

Why Katie’s Readers?

My favorite way to give back is by offering my time, I can’t think of a more valuable gift. Katie’s Readers is my heartfelt contribution.

What is your definition of the concept of ‘community’?

Community is simply a gathering of people with whom you find contrast and connection on a level that allows you to exhale.

Why are you most pleased to serve on the IAAT Advisory Board?

The expat life is such a wonderfully rich and deepening experience for anyone who embraces the opportunity. But sometimes it sucks, it really, truly sucks. Naomi has created a space where all the emotions of the expatriate life are welcomed without judgement. It is truly an honour and a pleasure to be invited to serve on the Advisory Board at IAaT and support this space with my own personal experience and understanding of this crazy thing we call “the expat life”

If you could visit ONE location you’ve yet to experience, where would that be?

If I could visit one place…HOME. After so many years of travelling I am finally allowing my roots to take hold. My journey now is inward,  contemplating the rich cultures and experiences that I have gathered and taking time to figure out who I am.
(If you pushed me though.. I would have to say Bhutan.)

Naomi Hattaway is the founder of I Am A Triangle, an online community of members from around the globe who have one thing in common – they’ve lived around the world, away from their passport countries. Offering in-person gatherings in over 80 cities around the globe, I Am A Triangle also exists to be a one-stop-shop for resources whether you are just pondering a move abroad, currently are living the adventure, or are repatriating back “home.” She also owns 8th & Home Real Estate and Relocation, a referral network matching families on the move with real estate professionals who chase communities and not commissions. After living in several locations in the United States, her family (three kids, now ages 21, 13 and 10) moved overseas to Delhi, India where she learned to thrive in the midst of chaos.

Following a one-year stint in Singapore, they are now back in the United States, and she has traipsed her way from Florida to Virginia and is now – for the time being – in Ohio. Naomi is passionate about community building and empowering others to thrive, not just survive, in the places they call home.
